Window tinting questions, answered
Everything Adelaide drivers ask us about tint film, the legal shade, warranty and booking. Straight answers from a real, family-run workshop.
How much does window tinting cost in Adelaide?
We quote every car individually, because the price depends on your vehicle's make, model and year, the film you choose (Jet Black Metalised or Nano Ceramic), and the shade. Working from a home workshop keeps our overheads low, so our prices are very competitive, and we will price match a cheaper written quote on eligible vehicles. Call 0404 788 085 or message us for a no-obligation quote.

We work by appointment. Call 0404 788 085 during business hours to talk through your car and book, or message our Facebook or Instagram any time with your make, model and year. A $100 deposit secures your booking and comes off your total on the day. The deposit is non-refundable if you miss your appointment or reschedule without enough notice.
Film & shades
Jet Black against Nano Ceramic, the South Australian legal shades, and how long good tint lasts.
Jet Black Metalised is our proven standard film: a deep, glare-cutting black that blocks heat and UV at a great price. Nano Ceramic is the premium upgrade, using nano-ceramic technology for high infra-red heat rejection, so the cabin stays noticeably cooler, while staying non-metallic so it never interferes with your GPS, phone or sensors. Both come in a range of shades and carry our lifetime warranty.
In South Australia, your front side windows must let at least 35% of light through, so 35% is the darkest legal shade there. Rear side windows and the rear screen can go darker. The windscreen cannot be tinted except for a visor strip along the top. We keep every car within the legal limits and can fit right up to the darkest legal shade on the front, advising the right compliant option before any film is cut.
On the front side windows, the darkest legal shade in South Australia is 35% VLT, and we fit Jet Black right up to that darkest legal limit so your car stays roadworthy. The rear side windows and rear screen can go darker, down to a dark limo look, for privacy and extra heat and glare control. We will advise the darkest compliant combination for your car.
With proper care, quality window tint lasts many years and keeps looking its best, which is why our tint is backed by a lifetime warranty. UV exposure, cleaning habits and film quality all affect how it ages, so we use quality film and show you how to look after it.
The process
How long it takes, what we can tint, and finding the Elizabeth Downs workshop.
Most cars are done within a few hours, depending on the vehicle and how many windows are being tinted. Because we work by appointment, your car goes straight into the workshop rather than sitting in a queue. We will give you a realistic time when you book.
We tint all cars, from small hatches to big-glass utes and 4WDs, and we love a challenge, we are motoring enthusiasts and treat every car like our own. Tint goes on all windows except the front windscreen and sunroof glass, and vehicles with laminated glass cannot be tinted. Send us your make and model and we will let you know exactly what we can do.
We work from a home workshop at Elizabeth Downs, in Adelaide's northern suburbs, by appointment. It is easy to reach from Elizabeth, Salisbury, Munno Para, Smithfield, Gawler and the surrounding north. Book a time, drop your car in, and we will have everything ready for you when you arrive.
Care & warranty
Looking after fresh film, and the lifetime warranty behind every job.
For the first few days after tinting, avoid rolling the tinted windows down while the film cures. Leave cleaning the inside of the tinted glass for a couple of weeks, then use a soft microfibre cloth and an ammonia-free cleaner. Never use abrasive materials on tinted glass. Cared for this way, quality tint stays looking new for the life of the film.
Yes. Every tint we fit at Pro Tint Adelaide is backed by a lifetime warranty, recorded against your car, so the film stays covered for as long as you own it. We use quality film and quality workmanship, and we stand behind both.
